MY APPROACH
I view therapy as a collaborative process in which we work together to develop a fuller understanding of the difficulties you are facing. My aim is to help you become more aware of patterns, conflicts, and tendencies that may not be immediately apparent, while also supporting you in finding more effective and authentic ways of coping and living.
Alleviating symptoms may be a central goal. At the same time, I believe it is important to understand each person as an individual and to consider the deeper factors contributing to their struggles. I also believe it is essential to recognize each patient’s strengths, not only their difficulties. In my experience, this kind of work can foster meaningful insight, lasting change, and greater overall well-being.
My work integrates psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, relational, and cognitive-behavioral approaches in order to offer individualized, thoughtful care tailored to each patient’s needs and goals. I place a great deal of importance on the therapeutic relationship itself and on developing a shared understanding of the goals of treatment, the process of the work, and the ways trust, misunderstanding, and connection may unfold along the way. I also incorporate hypnosis thoughtfully and selectively, where it seems clinically appropriate and helpful, as one possible part of the broader therapeutic process.
I prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and trusting therapeutic environment, and my style is engaged, collaborative, and personable. While my work is grounded in depth and careful reflection, I do not take an impersonal or overly formal stance. I believe therapy works best when it feels human, alive, and grounded in a real relationship, with room for warmth and occasional humor.
When working with children and teenagers, I typically include parents, caregivers, or other important figures in treatment in addition to meeting with the patient individually. We can discuss this in detail, and I am always happy to answer any questions you may have.
